9 August, International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples
Within the framework of information reintegration of Crimea, the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine presents the All-Ukrainian communication campaign for 9 August, the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
The campaign includes a number of thematic billboards and citylights placed on outdoor advertising media all over Ukraine. In addition, two videoclips titled “Spohady” (“Memories”) and “Kulturna Spadshchyna” (“Cultural Heritage”) were produced and are now being circulated as public social adverts on TV channels. Thematic podcasts can be heard on the radio.
Following the UN’s resolution, the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples has been marked on 9 August each year since 1995.
In 2014, Ukraine and Canada acceded to the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
