MIP: Journalists from Donbas Attended Media School in Kyiv

During 22-26 April 2019, a media school “New Media Instruments for Influencing Public Dialogue and Social Processes” for journalists from Donbas was held at the information hub of Ukrinform, a news agency.

The event was attended by 20 people from the Donetsk region and 11 from the Luhansk region. Journalists from the cities of Zolote, Lysychansk, Rubizhne, Sievierodonetsk and Starobilsk and the settlement of Troitske of the Luhansk region, and from the cities of Bakhmut, Mykolaiivka, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka, and Pokrovsk of the Donetsk region took a course on the use of interactive and multimedia technologies that affect the quality of the content; modern means of distributing information; expanding audiences; and cooperation of the media with the international community.

In particular, on April 25^th, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Artem Bidenko, told the journalists and civic activists of Donbas about Ukraine NOW as a tool of shaping the positive image of the country. “The logo of the brand was designed so that it could be used easily both at the national and regional levels. Anyone who wants can use the brand-book to promote the positive image of the country, its potential, and move forward,” he noted.

Organisationally, the event was supported by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Donetsk Youth Debate Centre, an NGO, and UNDP’s Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme (UNRPP).
