MIP: Film "Djakuyu" Wins Grand Prix of ArtTravel International Film Festival
“Djakuyu,” a short feature film produced by the order of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, has won the Grand Prix of ArtTravel International Film Festival in Kharkiv.
“Djakuyu” also won first place in the road movie special award. More than 1,200 works from above 100 countries had been submitted to the film festival.
The film festival also featured an out-of-competition screening of the film “Smachnoho,” a sequel of “Djakuyu.”
“We are trying to unite countries by means of the thin thread of art. In “Djakuyu,” it was Ukraine and Japan united through tourism; in “Smachnoho,” it is Ukraine and France united via cuisine. The film is about how the combination of two cuisines makes for fine cuisine,” says Maryna Sobotiuk, the Adviser to the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine on International Communications.
The film “Smachnoho,” produced by Best Friends Film by the order of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, is set to be premiered in July this year.
Earlier, in October 2018, “Djakuyu” was given a Special Awards prize at Zagreb Tourfilm Festival in Croatia.
“Djakuyu” was also awarded second place in the ‘Tourism Destination – Region’ nomination at the 11th International Tourism Film Festival ‘Tourfilm Riga 2018’ in Riga, Latvia.
“Djakuyu” won the ‘best editing’ nomination at the Romania-based monthly international film festival Short to the point.
“Djakuyu” shows Ukraine through the eyes of a Japanese tourist as an interesting, hospitable, and unique country with breathtaking landscapes and rich history.
